According to Deepak Chopra, a major shift requires consciousness and planning.
Many of us seek personal transformation, but we lack the knowledge about how to jump-start the process that creates such change. If you’re tired of wasting your energy on false starts and taking three steps forward followed by six steps back, keep on reading. Oftentimes, our conditioning and old habits are what holds us back from making definitive progress.
Hopefully, with the help of the ideas in this post, coupled with the Breathe, Focus, Action method I explain in F.I.E.R.C.E.: Transform Your Life in the Face of Adversity, 5 Minutes at a Time!, you can start to see some real change, no matter in which area of your life you seek to inspire change, be it for inner growth, career transformations, relationship success or even dealing with abuse or cancer. (link to book and cancer blog) Indeed, this is the exact process I developed to escape from a life of horrid abuse and to deal with the aftermath of that, which included debilitating PTSD and much more. But I digress…
Life decisions can be difficult, because:
● It involves our values and priorities and the lifestyles we wish to lead.
● We often think about life decisions in terms of time. We have so many years, and every moment spent not enjoying it, is wasted. That can cause panic.
A gut decision can sometimes seem contradictory to what looks like a more logical decision, which adds to the confusion.
The first step to making a major life decision would be to analyze your intention. Wishing for something different is not enough; you have to be specific. It’s when you really meditate on your desire that you will start to feel your psyche respond with anxiety, overwhelm and even resistance. The reason for these seemingly negative emotional responses is because you are being driven closer towards a realistic outcome.
Things are only ever perfect and easy in daydreams, not in realistic life changes.
When you’ve made your decision and you’re ready to move to the next step, it’s time to implement your Best Friend Always – or as we FIERCE people know it: Breathe, Focus, Action.
Breathe, Focus, Action to Major Life Changes
Many readers of F.I.E.R.C.E.: Transform Your Life in the Face of Adversity, 5 Minutes at a Time! have explained how the FIERCE concept – specifically the Breathe, Focus, Action element – has given them permission to think about major life decisions in more bite-sized chunks. By breaking a massive task into more manageable pieces, you remove overwhelm from the equation and are better able to courageously build up towards your desired outcome.
When you feel more courageous – rather than overwhelmed – you’ll be better equipped to handle obstacles, overcome fear and create major life changes.
